Simon Collison
SIMON is a UK-based web designer with more than a decade of experience at the sharp end. AEA regular Andy Clarke describes him as “a deep, deep thinker who makes the connections nobody else makes.”
Simon has worked with a wide range of clients, including leading magazines and publishing houses, the UK government, polar explorers, major banks, record labels and chart-topping bands.
Abandoning a promising art career for the lure of HTML, Simon spent several years learning his trade as web lead at Agenzia Ltd, before co-founding the successful Erskine Design which he ran for four years. Erskine was runner-up in the 2009 Agency Of The Year category at the .net magazine awards.
Simon wrote the bestselling Beginning CSS Web Development, and co-authored two editions of CSS Mastery, as well as Web Standards Creativity and Blog Design Solutions. He has written articles for A List Apart, 24 Ways, Digital Web Magazine, and The Manual.
Simon speaks about design and process at events all over the world, and organizes the award-winning New Adventures in Web Design conference held in Nottingham each January. He’s currently drafting an ambitious new book, and collaborating on a major new web service to be launched in late 2011.
Only part-geek, Simon spends much time watching Scandinavian crime dramas, sitting in pubs, recommending obscure indie bands, or wandering around Brooklyn. He writes sporadically about all these things and more on his blog.
